Sharing the best farmers’ markets is our favorite way to share Southwest Michigan flavors. Every stall bursts with color, freshness, and the slow, sun-soaked rhythm of Harbor Country. We’ll direct you to our favorite markets, located just a short distance from our Union Pier property.
Local growers offer fresh-picked produce, vibrant flowers, and artisan goods you’ll want to take home. Get ready to fill your tote, meet the growers, and enjoy shopping outdoors. We’ll begin with our on-site farm stand. Then, we’ll walk you through our off-site favorites…one friendly market at a time.
Start at Goldberry’s Market Stand
You don’t have to go far to enjoy one of the sweetest farmers’ markets. Our Union Pier farm stand is packed with whatever’s ripe and beautiful that day. Depending on the season, you’ll find heirloom tomatoes, just-dug garlic, herbs, and cut flower bouquets. You can also find great gifts, such as vintage finds spilling with succulents.
We grow everything right here at Goldberry Woods using sustainable practices we’re proud to share. You’re welcome to explore the entire farm and ask any questions you may have. It’s our way of giving you an authentic farm-to-table taste of this beautiful place we call home. You can even stay on-property in our Vintage Campers, Cottages or Inn.
Cruise Over to New Buffalo
New Buffalo has a lively farmers market if you’re heading for a coastal drive. The atmosphere is festive. And the variety of vendors is impressive, ranging from fresh fruit to baked goods. You’ll also find handmade soaps, local produce, and seasonal treats from local growers.
New Buffalo is a fun place to grab a snack, chat with growers, or find something unexpected. And since it’s close to our Union Pier inn, stop by before or after your beach day. Plan to visit on a Thursday afternoon during the market season. Enjoy seasonal events, such as live music and food trucks.
Visit the Sawyer Home and Garden Center
Sawyer Garden Center is ideal for those who appreciate a relaxed pace. It’s a great spot to take your time browsing and chatting. It’s also a short drive from our inn. And it pairs well with a morning hike or a visit to the winery.
This incredible garden center offers a unique selection of annuals and perennials at great prices. You’ll find local produce, gourmet foods, liquors, and stylish home goods. There’s also a clothing boutique, pet section, and plenty more to explore.
Don’t Miss Three Oaks Flavor
Three Oaks is a local favorite near New Buffalo. And its charming market scene is big on flavor. You’ll find a variety of baked goods, fresh produce, and many locally made specialties. This farmers market has a cozy, artistic atmosphere that fits the town perfectly. You might hear live music or spot vintage finds and handmade goods.
Three Oaks is a fun stop on your weekend drive, and it supports local growers and makers. Grab something tasty and stroll through this creative, welcoming gem in Harbor Country.
Farmette:
Farmette is Union Pier’s newest hidden gem. It’s a cozy mix of a small farm, café, and market. Be one of the first to check out this sweet new spot. Grab fresh sourdough, local produce, or a bunch of flowers. Sip farmer-direct coffee as you wander the market. Find wine, cheese, gifts, and more — all thoughtfully curated.
Swing Through Baroda’s Farm Stands
We love Baroda’s countryside. It’s filled with hidden spots, such as roadside stands full of old-fashioned charm. Most use the honor system, so bring small bills and enjoy browsing at your own pace. Look for signs offering sweet corn, sunflowers, and fresh homemade pies. One of the things we love about Baroda is that it’s peaceful and scenic. It’s also packed with plenty of Southwest Michigan goodness.
Stop on your way to a winery or after a morning of picking fruit. Baroda always makes the trip worthwhile.
Go Early, Bring a Tote
Timing makes a big difference at farmers’ markets. Arriving early means first pick of the freshest goods. You’ll beat the crowds, chat with vendors, and find items that sell out fast. Bring a sturdy tote or basket — bonus points if it’s one of our market bags! Comfortable shoes, sunscreen, and small bills make your market day smooth and fun.
We’re happy to share tips when you check in. We want your market visits to be a highlight of your stay.
