Savor the Unexpected

A Taste of Harbor Country

At Goldberry Woods, each flavor tells a story about Harbor Country. This sandy soil takes some coaxing and cajoling to produce sun-warmed juicy sweetness. Organic vegetables trace the journey from heirloom seed, to greenhouse, to mature plant on the farm. Orchard fruit blossom and ripen on branches a stone’s throw from your windows. Sweet snacks are expertly baked each day from family recipes, and wine features grape varieties picked down the lane. It’s a heady 360-degree culinary experience with a curtsy to the land, traditions and biodiversity that surround us. When you depart our Union Pier, MI B&B, you leave with your own, delicious story to tell.

Breakfast

Spacious hotel room with queen bed, large french doors and sitting chair next to table with vase of flowers

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day! We aspire to inspire you with every bite of our farm-to-table breakfasts. We make everything from scratch and strive to use the freshest ingredients possible, many grown right on the premises and picked fresh that morning.

The fixed menu is posted the day before.  Help yourself to unlimited coffee, juice and tea while we serve you a starter and main breakfast. We alternate between sweet and savory mornings, to satisfy all palates.  A few sample breakfasts are listed below.

  • (Spring) Yogurt Parfait with Rhubarb-Raspberry Compote, Lemon Curd and Homemade Granola
  • Bacon, Asparagus and Jarlsburg Quiche
  • Honeyberry Streusel Muffins
  • (Fall) Steel Cut Oats Steeped in Apple Cider with Chia, Quinoa, Baked Apples and Sugared Walnuts
  • Pumpkin Pancakes with Apple Cider Syrup
  • Canadian Bacon Egg Cups with Farm Fresh Veggies

If you let us know at least 24 hours prior to check-in, we can happily accommodate any special dietary needs as creatively as possible. Breakfast will be served in our Dining Room at 9am and delivery to your room/cottage/camper can be arranged for a small fee.

Breakfast is not included for cottage/camper stays but can be added to your stay ($20/person) if breakfast is available and advanced notice is provided.

Breakfast is not typically provided for group rentals as we turn over the inn’s kitchen to the group for their meals. Each group rental is fully customized.

Wine & Charcuterie

Cottage bedroom with king bed, large windows and doorway into room with a kitchenette

Make your stay even more special by adding a bottle of local red wine, white wine or local champagne. You can even add mimosas to your breakfast order!

Better yet, you can order a charcuterie platter for any day of your stay. It is loaded with meats, cheeses, and lot of special homemade pickles, mustards, pepper jelly, and preserves from our farm. Our platter is abundant enough to possibly skip dinner out and stay in for the night!

Local Dining

The area surrounding Goldberry Woods is home to amazing restaurants, from fine dining to counter service takeaway. Local chefs and foodies have leveraged local, organic ingredients, cultural traditions and a dedication to service. More options abound than one guest could experience in a weekend—but every choice is a great one!

TIMOTHY’S – A short walk down the block, Timothy’s creates fish-focused global cuisine. The titular owner is a master of sauces—and don’t miss the crazy-good off-season specials.

CAFÉ GULISTAN – This local favorite serves Middle Eastern food: Kurdish, to be exact. You’ll want to try the Ispanek (That’s falafel covered in veggies with mango-walnut-garlic-coconut cream sauce). Channel your inner adventurous eater!

BREWSTER’S – If classic red sauce Italian is your thing (isn’t it everyone’s?) then you need to experience Brewsters’ “dinner for two” that serves four. Bring home house-made cookies and don’t leave without trying the tiramisu. The outdoor courtyard seating is magical.  Reservations are recommended.

HESTON SUPPER CLUB – Heston’s keeps the supper club tradition alive with fabulous prime rib, lake perch and other upscale comfort food. (It’s just back over the Indiana border, so watch that time zone change! Less than a 15 minute drive.)

UNION PIER SOCIAL – Not your ordinary bar and grill, they offer great cocktails, delicious burgers, gigantic salads, flatbread pizzas and entrees.

GREENBUSH BREWERY – Hotshot breweries love to brag about their hop-forward IPAs—at Greenbush, experience the soft, sophisticated side of craft brews. There’s truly something for every beer drinker, and get the brisket. Just do it.

JOURNEYMAN DISTILLERY – If you’re looking for something harder, nothing beats this nearby distillery. Organic spirits form the basis of out-of-this-world craft cocktails, accompanied by delicious pub burgers, hand-cut fries and Detroit-style pizzas. Take a tour!

RED ARROW ROADHOUSE – For a taste of the Southwest in Harbor Country, dress down for this casual bar and grill. Julie loves the fish tacos—but the Roadhouse’s whitefish is famous.

DAVID’S DELI – Super creative sandwich specials with literary pun names. Can’t lose with the famous Reuben Menu. This deli turns into “The False Front” at night, a funky pop-up cocktail bar.

GRANOR FARM – This beautiful organic farm in Three Oaks offers a limited, year-round private dining experience on the farm. Join James Beard Award nominated cookbook author Abra Behrens as she and her team cook up multi-course farm to table menus.
