Originally and Epicurious recipe, this recipe has been with us for a long time. Everyone, we have bake in the kitchen, always makes it a little differently, tossing in their favorite chips, nuts and dried fruit. Nevertheless, it has been tried and true because of its simplicity and how delicious it always is.
Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 Sticks of Butter
- 5oz roughly chopped unsweetened chocolate
- 2 Cups Sugar
- 1 Tablespoon Instant Espresso Powder
- 1 Teaspoon Vanilla
- 1/2 Teaspoon Salt
- 4 Farm Fresh Eggs
- 1 Cup Whole Wheat White Flour (or All-Purpose)
- 3/4 Cup Chocolate Chips
- 1 Cup Chopped Nuts of Choice
- 1 Cup Dried Cherries or Cranberries
Instructions:
-
Prepare a 9x13, or slightly larger, pan (depends how thick you want your brownies) by lining it with parchment paper.
-
Preheat Oven to 375 degrees.
-
Melt Butter and Chopped Chocolate completely in the microwave, stirring every 15-20 seconds to get the chocolate to start to melt into the butter.
-
Once the chocolate is completely melted, add to a large bowl. Whisk together with Sugar until fully combined.
-
Make sure the sugar and butter are cooled enough, and then add eggs, vanilla, and espresso powder and continue to whisk.
-
You will want to switch from a whisk to a rubber spatula or wooden spoon to incorporate all of your flour.
-
Lastly add in your Chocolate Chips, Nuts, and Dried Fruit. Stir to combine and transfer batter into your prepared pan.
-
Bake for 25-50 minutes depending on thickness of brownies. They are done when the top looks completely set, doesn't giggle, and a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
-
Enjoy!
